Commemorating World Refugee Day

Dr Emmanuel Taban commemorating World Refugee Day

Commemorating World Refugee Day.

On Sunday 20 June a mass was held at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Johannesburg to commemorate World Refugee Day. Hosted by the Cathedral and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the theme was centred around inclusion and community integration.

Dr Taban was invited as a guest speaker to share his journey from being a refugee to reaching the highest echelons of medicine as a pulmonologist and a frontliner in the fight against Covid 19. While it is important for host communities to foster inclusion of refugees and integration into their societies, Dr Taban also stressed the importance of refugees also familiarising themselves with the language and culture of their host communities and for those who are entrepreneurs to make an effort to partner with local businesses.

Your story is inspirational. Your book was introduced to me by one of my clients, Dr Gabriel Pereira. I have in fact chosen it as the current BookClub book of the month in the two Business BookClubs I run.

    Stay healthy, stay happy 😎
