It is with great sadness that we received the tragic news of the passing of Ms Dina Goncalves, the Head Mistress at Jeppe High School for Girls and a beloved friend.
Our journey with Dina began in March 2021 when she invited Dr Taban to come and speak at the school’s awards ceremony and from then on we have kept a close connection with the school, and Dina has been a key part of this connection. We also had the pleasure of hosting her, together with Mr Kevin Tate and Mr Peter Ross and others in our home in 2021.
Dina was a passionate and dedicated educator who cared deeply for the girls at Jeppe and the young people of this country and was enthusiastic and energetic in building the partnership that the Emmanuel Taban Foundation has today, with Jeppe High School for Girls.
This is a tremendous loss for the school community and for all those who loved and cherished her.
We send our sincerest condolences to Dina’s family, to the learners, teachers, parents and the school community at large.
May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
